General Provisions

Have a Good Dog will undertake to provide the services diligently and professionally. At the same time, you, the client, agree to act under the instructions we provide and pay the fee for services rendered by us.

You can find details of each service we offer on our website, and you should read them in full before continuing with your purchase.

Have a Good Dog agrees to provide coaching for you and your dog; the goal is to teach you how to train and work with your dog and modify any problem behaviour. These sessions will take place at your home and (where agreed/in the case of training classes) our training venues. Have a Good Dog will make every reasonable effort to help you achieve training and behaviour modification goals but does not guarantee your dog’s performance or behaviour. You understand that you and members of the household must follow Have a Good Dog’s instructions.

We will promise to:
Assess your dog/s carefully and accurately based on the information you provided and our observations during the sessions, which will allow us to understand why your dog is behaving this way.

If we feel that you can’t implement the required training or that your dog is unsuitable for your home, we will explain this and review the alternative options.

We will use a combination of our experience and up-to-date scientific methods to create an appropriate action plan for you and your dog.

You will receive complete instructions on what to do, and (where possible) we will go through these in real-life situations.

Although behaviour can be modified in cases involving aggression, a dog is not considered “cured” or “fixed”. Your dog’s behaviour is ultimately your responsibility. We train/educate you to work with your dog/s, and without your cooperation with the prescribed programme, your dog’s behaviour will not change. We will provide training equipment or advise you on the necessary equipment. You agree to use the equipment strictly under the instructions we provide.

Dog training is a physical activity; we remind owners to train with due care and attention to their safety and that of others. You are always responsible for the conduct of your dog. Neither Have a Good Dog nor any person acting on behalf of us accept any liability for any loss, damage, accident, injury or illness to dogs, handlers, spectators, or any other persons or property.

We remind you that we adhere to the guidelines of our membership organisations, The Association of Pet Dog Trainers UK and the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors, both practitioner organisations of the Animal Behaviour and Training Council. We do not advocate harsh handling (including rolling, pinning, scruffing or smacking your dog) or any equipment intended to inflict punishment, e.g. choke chains, pet correctors, e-collars, or prong collars.

Due to the nature of our service, payment is required before the consultation as we offer a service, not a product, and a service cannot be returned. It is standard practice for registered clinical animal behaviourists. You must pay for our services at least seven days before your appointment/class.

Bookings are provisional and not confirmed until we receive payment in full. Suppose you wish to claim the cost of the behaviour treatment programme on your pet’s insurance. In that case, it is standard practice for clients to pay the behaviourist directly, who will then provide a receipt for service so you can claim this back from the insurance company.

You can pay via BACS, credit/debit card, or PayPal.

Cancellation Policy

Please give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. You will lose the fee if you cancel a session or your place in a class with less than 48 hours’ notice.

We cannot make refunds once the course starts as we cannot resell a place for part of a course.

The above does not affect your consumer rights, which allows you to cancel any products purchased online within 14 days of purchase and receive a full refund with fewer processing charges.

Term of the Agreement

These terms and conditions are valid until your dealings with us are concluded or terminated. This agreement will automatically terminate when the lessons/behaviour programme is complete. Have a Good Dog may terminate the contract at our discretion if you intentionally provide false information about your dog, which results in dangerous behaviour, or you breach any part of this agreement.

Final Provisions

In case of any dispute, the Parties agree to mediate and settle through negotiations and mutual understanding. This Contract for Training Services supersedes all other agreements, written or oral, previously made between you and Have a Good Dog.
