Introduction

One-to-one training lessons are carried out away from a training class environment. We can travel throughout the region to deliver our private dog training lessons.

There are real benefits from one-to-one training:

• Ideal if you find it difficult to attend one of our training venues at a set date and time.
• You can train your dog from the comfort of your home.
• You may wish to add a one-to-one training session onto a training course, and this is particularly useful if your family and friends cannot attend classes with you but would like the skills to teach your dog.
• As one-to-one training is delivered at your home or on one of your dog’s usual walks, there is the additional benefit of training in an environment your dog is comfortable with. Do not forget that not all dogs can relax in a training class environment.

A private one-to-one lesson can help with any of the following:

• Recall.
• Loose lead walking.
• Jumping up at people.
• Trick training, e.g. weave through legs, walk back, pivot on a step, retrieve, hi-five, spin.
• Assistance dog tasks, e.g. picking up items, loading and emptying the washing machine, opening and closing doors, press switches.
• Position training, e.g. sit, down, stand (with duration stay and wait).
• Practice for companion tests, e.g. APDT Good Companion or Kennel Club Good Citizen.
• Child/dog interactions are a practical introduction to what is appropriate and what is not.
